‎
‎
‎The Executive Chairman, Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Omo’ba Hameed Olalekan Aroyewun (HOA), has urged Nigerians to see every October 1st Independence Day beyond an ordinary anniversary celebration, but as a daily commitment to responsibility; service with dignity and the need to treat one another fairly and with respect.
‎
‎
‎Aroyewun said on Thursday in a statement commemorating the Nigeria 66th Independence Day.
‎
‎
‎”Today, 1st October 2026, I join millions of Nigerians at home and abroad to celebrate 66 years since our nation rose from colonial rule to take its place among the free nations of the world.
‎

‎
‎”On this day in 1960, our founding fathers and mothers set aside their differences and dared to dream of a nation governed by its own people. We honour their sacrifice, courage and vision. The freedom we enjoy today was not handed to us cheaply, and it is our duty to protect it and build on it.
‎
‎
‎”Independence is more than a date on the calendar, it is a daily call to responsibility: to serve with integrity, work with diligence and treat one another with respect. Whatever our tribe, faith or background, our diversity is our strength, and our unity is our greatest asset”.
‎
‎
‎He emphasised that his administration is guided by those independence principles and reassured residents of the IBLCDA of his commitment to deliver good governance.

‎”Here in Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, that spirit guides everything we do. And through the GLORY Agenda, we remain committed to people-centred governance: delivering meaningful development, empowering our youths and women, and building a community where every resident can thrive.
‎
‎
‎”To our residents, traders, artisans, students, community leaders, traditional rulers and faith leaders: thank you for being partners in this journey. Your support, patience and cooperation drive our progress”.
‎
‎
‎He called for a renewed dedication towards peace, and service to economic development of IBLCDA.
